Most Lehigh Valley boroughs spread their summer across a downtown grid. Nazareth doesn't have a grid. It has a green in the middle of the intersection at South Main and Center, and almost every event on the borough calendar either sits in it, points at it, or ends at it.
If you already live here, that's not news. What might be is how tightly the 2026 calendar concentrates on that 200-yard radius, and how few streets you actually need to think about between Memorial Day and the Fall Festival.
The Circle Is the Mechanism
The Circle isn't a metaphor. It's a triangular green ringed by South Main, Center, and Belvidere, and it's the reason Nazareth can host a market, a two-stage music festival, and a kazoo parade without ever feeling scattered. Vendors set up on the grass. Stages face inward. Chairs go anywhere.
The Farmer's Market runs in the Circle from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm every Summer and early Fall Saturday, with entertainment and some added new vendors this year. That single line is the whole scaffolding of a Nazareth Saturday. You don't drive to the market. You walk to it, and whatever else you were planning gets built around the ninety minutes you spend inside it.
The borough pool opens the same weekend the market does. The Pool opens weekends until the close of school and then daily on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 with a closing date of Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2026. Market in the morning, pool by early afternoon, is the default template most residents already run. What follows is where the calendar actually asks something of you.
Four Saturdays That Break the Pattern
Between June and late October, four Saturdays pull the routine off its rails. If you plan around these four, you can let the rest fall where it wants.
- June 13, Food Truck Festival on Belvidere Street. From 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm, the Chamber of Commerce's annual Food Truck Festival will be held on Belvidere Street. Half a block off The Circle, so market shoppers walk directly into it.
- July 4, Kazoo Parade and America 250 at the Whitefield House. The Kazoo Parade steps off at 10:00 am and ends at the Whitefield House, where the 250th Birthday event runs until the late afternoon. Fireworks return and begin at around 8:45 - 9:00 pm to close out a very busy Nazareth Day.
- July 25, Martin on Main. The main event of the summer, described in detail below.
- October 17, Fall Festival. The 2026 Nazareth Fall Festival is happening on Sat 17 Oct 2026 from 2:00 PM onwards at 100 S Main Street, Nazareth.
One more date worth marking, not on a Saturday. The Fireman's Carnival will again fill our park with revelers beginning on Wednesday evening, June 17th for its usual 4-day run. That's the one week the Circle isn't the center of gravity. The park is.
Martin On Main, Read By The Geometry
Martin on Main is the day the borough's shape does the most work. The festival is set to captivate Nazareth on July 25, 2026, from 12 noon until 7 pm, located in the Nazareth Center Circle to Walnut St. That routing matters. The footprint is roughly three blocks of South Main plus the full green, and the two stages are placed to keep sound from bleeding into each other.
The main stage is located at the corner of S. Main and Belvidere Streets and features Martin Guitar Forum artists for the full seven hours. The acoustic stage is located in the Nazareth Circle and features local talent. If you've been before, you already know which stage suits you. If you haven't, the practical read is this: main stage for scale, Circle stage if you want to bring a blanket and stay in the shade.
The event is meaningfully local rather than a bought-in touring festival. This year both stages and all musicians are sponsored and organized by Nazareth Center for the Arts. President Jenny Swanker said the Nazareth Center for the Arts is thrilled to bring all the music to Martin on Main this year. The music curation is happening a block off The Circle, not in a corporate marketing office in another state.
Two operational details residents ask about every year:
The Nazareth Farmers Market runs the same day from 9 AM to 1 PM, with some vendors staying until 7 PM. So the market doesn't get pushed aside by the festival. It gets absorbed into it.
Raffle tickets are $10 per ticket, with each ticket a chance to win two Martin Guitars valued at over $2,500. Tickets are available at the Chamber booth on the day of the event, or at the Nazareth Area Chamber of Commerce at 18 S Main Street and at Herbs to Your Success at 64 S Main St. Both are on the festival's block.
One point of public funding worth knowing, because it changes how you should think about the event's future: this year's event is partially funded thanks to the Northampton County Hotel Tax Grant. It's a county-subsidized draw, not a purely private one, which is part of why it keeps growing rather than thinning out.
What Anchors The Weeks Between
The Saturdays get the attention. The weeknights are what make living here different from visiting for a festival.
The Nazareth Center for the Arts at 30 East Belvidere Street is the year-round programming engine. Beyond running Martin on Main, the gallery hosts a music-themed exhibit during the festival window, and its calendar of workshops and comedy nights runs through the season. Laugh Local: Nazareth Clean Comedy Night is one such example, on Sat 11 Jul 2026 from 7:00 PM at Nazareth Center for the Arts.
Broad Street has quietly become the other axis. Conclave Brewing hosts live sessions, and Violet Vintage Wine Co. is booking small acts through the summer. Both are a five-minute walk from The Circle, which matters on Martin on Main day when the crowd on Main peaks around 4 pm and the wine bar becomes the natural exit.
For a morning that actually leaves the borough footprint, Jacobsburg State Park is close enough to run before market. Jacobsburg State Park Picnic and Hike is happening Tue 14 Jul 2026 from 12:00 PM at Henry's Woods Trailhead, Nazareth. Henry's Woods is the trailhead most residents use for a two-hour loop, and it's the standard answer when out-of-town guests ask for something outdoors that doesn't require a drive to the Poconos.
The compression is the point. A borough this small shouldn't be able to host a seven-hour street festival, a weekly market, a carnival, a parade, and a fall festival without any of them stepping on each other. The Circle is what makes that arithmetic work.
The Fall Pivot, When The Circle Empties
By late August the pattern shifts. The SOAR Summer camp runs weekdays until the end of July, the pool closes on Labor Day, and market Saturdays start feeling more like a farmers market and less like a scene. That's the window residents use to reset before the Fall Festival on October 17 refills The Circle one more time.
If you're hosting family in the fall rather than the summer, the Fall Festival is the better date to build a visit around. The weather is cooler, parking is easier, and the borough hasn't yet locked down for the holidays. It's also the last real event before the Circle transitions to its winter role, which is quieter but not empty. Downtown Nazareth is a dynamic place with new businesses opening frequently and sadly some closing, and the winter market keeps a scaled-down version of the Saturday rhythm going.
One civic note worth flagging, because it's the kind of thing residents wonder about all year. Continued construction and UCC permit approval delays, some due to weather and others for material availability, delayed Council's return to its 159 West Center Street home, with a June 2026 meeting cycle anticipated for the return. Council Chambers reopening is a small thing, but it's the last piece of the civic geometry snapping back into place around The Circle.
Using The Spine Well
If you've lived in Nazareth for more than a year, you already know most of the dates above. What's easy to lose track of is how few streets you're actually operating on all summer. South Main from The Circle to Belvidere. Belvidere from Main to the Chamber. Broad, one block over. That's it. Six blocks of walkable borough carrying an entire season's programming.
The reason this matters, if you're thinking longer-term about the borough as a place to stay put, is that the geometry isn't going to change. The Circle was laid out in the 18th century. The market has been meeting there for years. Martin on Main has grown into it, not around it. Nazareth is one of the few Lehigh Valley boroughs where the civic center is a fixed thing, and where the annual calendar has quietly organized around that fact instead of fighting it.
